CI Practice Retreat III
14.-17.05.2026 in Barnin
Mit Angela-Mara Florant, Elske Seidel & Dino Spiri
Live-Musik von Andrea C Junge / andiesounds
We are delighted to invite you to the 3rd Contact Improvisation Practice Retreat at this wonderful location. The farm in Barnin offers a spacious dance studio, a lush garden with a fire pit, and a sauna – situated directly on the tranquil Lake Barnin.
As in the previous years, we aim to create a framework that combines focused work with relaxed and restorative time together. The CI Practice Retreat is intended for dancers who regularly practice Contact Improvisation and are curious to explore their own themes, questions, and interests around movement, touch, and improvisation.
The main format of this event will be our jams. We envision collectively shaped, focused jam spaces that allow us to dive deeply into our practice. During free time, our social needs and desires will be met – whether by relaxing in the sauna, swimming in the lake, or simply enjoying time together.
Program:
Angela-Mara and Dino will offer classes in the studio that help us come together as a group and provide inspiration for enriching jamming. We envision jam spaces where both diversity and freedom are welcome, as well as a bit of friction and surprise.
Elske’s outdoor class “Nature as Teacher” will not only honor the beautiful place where we practice, but will also enriche our dancing through immersion in detailed perception. Bringing this experience back into the studio can be wonderfully inspiring.
Andrea will enrich the jam landscape and our dances with her musical creativity and skill, while Inga will nourish our bodies and souls with her delicious organic food.
For whom is this event?
This event is for dancers with prior experience in Contact Improvisation. We recommend at least one year of regular practice.
You will get the most out of this Practice Retreat if:
- You feel comfortable with basic CI techniques, including moving through space and levels while sharing weight with another body.
- You feel at ease in your solo dance and do not rely solely on dancing in contact with another person.
- You can navigate a jam (self-)responsibly and safely.
- You enjoy focused dancing and exploration.

Please note
The minimum fee only covers the costs of the location and the costs for food. In order to pay the musicians, the cook, the teachers and the organizers for their work, we rely on those who can pay more. We tried our best to come up with a pricing policy that is as inclusive as possible, considering that events like this have become much more expensive. The price includes sleeping in shared bedrooms, organic food, sauna, the classes and jams!
