Contact Improvisation Practice Retreat
9.-12.05.2024 in Barnin
With Angela-Mara Florant, Elske Seidel & Dino Spiri
Live-Music from Nathaniel Damon
We have found a great venue for this extended weekend – a wonderful farmhouse directly on Lake Barnin. We would like to offer a framework for both focused work and a relaxed and restful get-together.
The program consists of a CI Intensive, CI sessions in nature, singing and jams with live music. There will also be plenty of free time for enjoying the sauna, swimming in the lake and hanging out. The whole program will be supported by delicious organic food from Inga Striezel!
This extended weekend is for people with CI experience!

Contact Improvisation Intensive with Angela-Mara & Dino
> Different States
We would like to dedicate this workshop to observing and playing with different states in our dance. States influence our mood, the contact with our dance partner(s), and the quality of the dance. Our individual states have an impact on the group and the space. The more freedom we have to consciously choose our states, the more we can shape our own experience according to our wishes and more consciously affect the common experience of the group.
We will experiment with meditation, very fine and detailed body awareness, and touch. We will also dive into playing with speed, manipulation, and tonus modulation. We are interested in opening and expanding the pallet of our possibilities for perception and creation in dance.
Our desire is to co-create a space where everyone can find access to inspired work and learning. We will revisit CI techniques as our basis and common language to communicate and play with.
Are the attitudes “be as you are” and “do what you need” compatible with dedicated work on explorations of movement and touch? How can we create a space in which the individual is not more important than the group and the group is not more important than the individual?

Contact Improvisation in Nature with Elske
> Nature as Teacher
This workshop is a deepening practice, experiencing Contact Improvisation in nature, allowing nature to teach us. In Contact Improvisation presence with the earth is our first partner. Fine-tuning our sense of listening to gravity through touch, we are continuously responding to and communicating with all the surfaces supporting us. When dancing in nature the realm of possibilities is widening and changing. A three-dimensional landscape of different textures and shapes is welcoming us into its specific language. In communication with what we are touching, we sense and absorb its inherent quality in all its aspects. The forces of gravity are moving through the environment, a truth of which we are part. From this place movement unfolds, takes us and passes through us informing our research and releasing our play.

Price
-
Please note
The minimum fee only covers the costs of the location and the costs for food. In order to pay the musicians, the cook, the teachers and the organizers for their work, we rely on those who can pay more. We tried our best to come up with a pricing policy that is as inclusive as possible, considering that events like this have become much more expensive. The price includes sleeping in shared bedrooms, organic food, sauna, the CI intensive and jams!

HELPER SPOTS
There are some helper spots available for a reduced participation fee of between 180-160 euros. Please contact Angela-Mara directly, if you’re interested: contact@angelamaraflorant.de
