This Intensive honors the work of Nancy Stark Smith, who passed away 5 years ago.
Cristina and Angela-Mara have both worked with Nancy Stark Smith for a long time. For the second time, they will recall and share Nancy's material. It is about techniques, patterns, concepts and scores, including the underscore. It is a space of exchange where we want to live community, even for a short time. Singing songs about dancing and letting memories emerge and be evoked.

THE TEACHERS
𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙖-𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩 (𝙂𝙚𝙧)
She had her first experience with CI during her performance arts studies in Besançon, France. Based in Hamburg, she teaches several regular contact classes, gives workshops and organizes jams and festivals - NORDTANZ Festival. Since 2015, she is co- director of the dance studio “ Triade ” in Hamburg.
In 2022, she brought to life the Contact CompanI, a dance company performing CI. When Angela-Mara is not dancing or teaching contact she is teaching corART ( Pilates), directing independent theater productions, choreographing dance pieces.
Teachers that have inspired her work are: Nancy Stark Smith, Jörg Hassmann, Nita Little, Anjelika Doniy, Mirva Mäkinen, Martin Keogh, Frey Faust, Scott Wells, Andrew Hardwood, Daniel Lepkoff and more.

𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙖 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙖 (𝙄𝙩)
She is an interdisciplinary artist and passionate movement teacher based in Italy-Ireland. After some years of contemporary dance investigation she discovered her passion for contact improvisation, composition, and improvisation while she was studing sculpture and painting at Brera Arts Academy. Her curiosity shifted her focus from the canvas to body-environment relationships.
She has danced contact since 2010 and In 2013, driven by the desire to know the roots of contactimprovisation, she flew to Earthdance (Massachusetts, USA) to study with Nancy Stark Smith and once back in 2014 she started teaching. For 7 years she taught regular contact classes at Artichoke, a contemporary dance program in Milan and she organize and teach in workshops, jam and event in Italy and Europe.
Cristina is also an Ilan Lev Method pratictioner (bodywork) and she is part of Effetto Larsen, a group that use relational art for developing a sense of community.

VENUE
Spazio il Mulino is organizing and hosting. In the heart of Tuscany, at the foot of the Pratomagno mountain, we will dance on a large wooden platform surrounded by forest and rock, two minutes walking from a river.
Antü Munay and Margherita Fort are two C.I. practitioners and teachers, spontaneous permaculture explorer and young holistic therapist, founders of the project, a place ment to be in connection with Nature, practicing Movement and open up to Healing.

 

𝑯𝑶𝑾 𝑻𝑶 𝑮𝑬𝑻 𝑻𝑶 𝑺𝑷𝑨𝒁𝑰𝑶 𝑰𝑳 𝑴𝑼𝑳𝑰𝑵𝑶
Il Mulino is in Tuscany, Italy, between Florence and Arezzo, next to Pian di Scó village. The nearest train station is Figline Valdarno, you can easily reach from Florence and Rome. The nearest airports are Florence, Pisa and Bologna.

 

𝑨𝑪𝑪𝑶𝑴𝑶𝑫𝑨𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵
It can be with your own tent and camping equipment or in a shared bell tent for 3 people, with materass and pillow provided by Spazio il Mulino (maximum 12 spots), bringing your own sleeping bag. We also have a few spots for caravan.

 

𝑭𝑶𝑶𝑫
We will prepare delicious meals with local and organic products, taking care of food intolerance if needed, and providing a vegetarian/vegan menu. Fruits, fresh spring water and warm tea will always be available.

The workshop will be held in English, with possibility of translation to Italian and Spanish.
